Scenario
VyOS keeps three layers: - Candidate — what's in cfg shell, pre-commit. - Running — what commit applied; kernel + FRR see it. - Boot — /config/config.boot; what loads on reboot. commit writes candidate → running. save writes running → boot. Both are needed for changes to outlive a reload.
