Scenario
VyOS is a Linux-based router OS (forked from Vyatta Core) with a two-phase configuration model: - Operational shell — what you land in. Run show ..., ping, traceroute. Prompt is vyos@hostname:~$. - Configuration shell — entered with configure. Stage changes with set ... / delete ..., then commit to apply, save to persist, exit to leave. This lab stays in op-mode. Configuration is a later lab. Most op-mode show commands are deliberately Cisco-shaped (show ip interface brief, show ip route) — VyOS targets operators fluent in Cisco syntax. The router vyos-r1 is pre-loaded with one Ethernet port eth0 carrying 10.0.0.1/24.
