Scenario

VyOS's config flow: 1. configure — enter the configuration shell. 2. set ... / delete ... — stage changes in the candidate. 3. commit — apply candidate to running. 4. save — write running to disk (so it survives a reboot). 5. exit (or exit discard) — leave cfg shell back to op shell. Sound like Junos? It is — VyOS forked from Vyatta Core, which influenced (and was influenced by) Junos's two-phase model. In this lab R1 starts blank: eth0 exists but has no address. You'll configure 10.0.0.1/24, commit it, and verify.
