Scenario

Reproduce → localise → fix (set+commit) → verify. The fault: vyos-r1's eth0 is missing an address. vyos-r2's side is fine. You'll diagnose with show ip interface brief, fix with set interfaces ethernet eth0 address, and verify with the original ping.

Topology

2 × router · VyOS

• vyos-r1 — router
• vyos-r2 — router

What you will do

1. From vyos-r1, run show ip interface brief to confirm eth0 has no IP.

2. From cfg shell, configure eth0 with 10.0.0.1/24 and commit.

3. Verify with a ping to vyos-r2 at 10.0.0.2.
