Scenario
IPv6 runs alongside IPv4 on every interface. On Cisco IOS, the forwarding engine kicks in only after ipv6 unicast-routing. Global addresses typically live under 2001:db8::/32 for documentation/test. Every interface also gets an automatic link-local (FE80::/10) via EUI-64.

What you will do
Enable IPv6 forwarding globally on both R1 and R2.
Assign 2001:db8::1/64 to R1.Gi0/0.
Assign 2001:db8::2/64 to R2.Gi0/0.
From R1, ping R2 (
ping ipv6 2001:db8::2).
