MPLS L3VPN: connect a customer to a 3rd-party provider

Two PoPs of an AT&T-style MPLS provider already exist on the canvas (Singapore + Tokyo, VRF blue, RT 65000:1). Configure both customer-edge routers to peer eBGP with the provider, advertise their LAN, and verify that they reach each other across the cloud.

Scenario

In a real 3rd-party MPLS deployment the customer-edge router (CE) only needs to know one neighbor: the provider's PoP. The CE peers eBGP with the provider, announces its LAN, and the provider transparently redistributes the prefix to every other CE attached to a VRF whose import-RTs match. From the customer's point of view it's just one link, one BGP neighbor, and the provider takes care of the rest. The provider's PoP devices on this canvas (ATT-SG, ATT-TKO) are pre-configured. You only configure the CE side.

Topology

2 × router, 2 × provider cloud · Cisco IOS-style

What you will do

  1. On CE-A, configure BGP AS 65001, peer with the provider (10.100.1.1, AS 65000), and announce 192.168.1.0/24.

  2. On CE-B, configure BGP AS 65002, peer with 10.100.2.1 (AS 65000), and announce 192.168.2.0/24.

  3. From CE-A, ping 192.168.2.1 (CE-B's loopback). After convergence the prefix reaches CE-A via ATT-SG with next-hop 10.100.1.1.
